Covid-19 Update on Journey Gatherings
In line with government advice, we won't be able to hold Sunday gatherings or small groups until social distancing measures are lifted. While this is disappointing and challenging for all of us at a time where we need each other's support more than ever, we need to respect the advice given and be responsible in all this. We still have plenty of opportunity to support, encourage and lift one another up, and support our neighbours and local community.
We will be using Zoom to hold online video call style meetings for small groups and Sunday gatherings. Sunday gatherings will still include some time to share stories with each other, some worship, a talk and some prayer time. If you would like to join in with our online gatherings please email email@example.com and we will let you know some more information about this.
Among the small groups and via phone calls and messages, let's try to support each other in our practical needs and encourage each other in all the other ways - perhaps have a think about who you can contact for a chat or just ask after. Please share encouraging words, stories, resources, prayer requests and anything else you can think of with each other!
There is a village-wide collaborative plan in place to help the most vulnerable people in Englefield Green with shopping, medicine, dog walking, phone calls etc. You can find the details here. Do sign up to this if you feel able, and distribute the details to folk who may need it!
Lastly, let's use the time to establish new rhythms and depths of prayer and worship, to go deeper with our Heavenly Father and rest in God's peace. The King of Glory is here, among us in all this, and Holy Spirit is at work, even now.
One of the best ways to get to know The Journey is to join us one Sunday for our morning gathering or once a month for our community lunch.
Our Sunday Gatherings are from 10.30am to 12:15pm at The Forest Estate Community Hub, 57 Larchwood Drive, Englefield, Green TW20 0SL. Everyone is welcome no matter where they are on their journey of faith, their age or personal circumstances. We start with refreshments at 10:30 until 10:45 and then have a relaxed meeting which includes musical worship led by a band, practical and relevant teaching from the Bible, opportunities for prayer, and sharing stories of what God has been doing in our lives. We end at 12:15 with more refreshments. From time to time we do something different from the norm and explore faith in a creative way – details are published ahead of time. Our meetings are appropriate for both those who are looking to grow their faith in Jesus and those exploring what faith is. Children are an important part of our church family, so we also provide activities for them to help them to learn about who God is and how they can interact with him.
For details of what we have going on over the next few months, click here to look at our termly leaflet.
On the first Sunday of each month we have a free community lunch
from 12.45 to 2:15 to which all are welcome. There is no requirement to attend the service beforehand - just turn up for the lunch.
During August there are no Sunday Gatherings at the Community Hub but a full programme of social activities published nearer to the time.
Once a term River's four churches meet together for an inspiring celebration called River Together.
This meeting, held at different venues throughout the year, runs from 10:30 to 12:30 and typically includes Worship, Bible teaching and prayer ministry. It also includes a full programme of activities for 0 to 16 year olds.
