Mary Porter - Jericho
Seven times round the wall and round
Seven times round and round
Quietly march with voices stilled
Seven times round the wall
Look at the stone on stone on stone
Look at the solid stone wall
(Seven hundred years it’s stood)
Go seven times round the wall.
March with your banners tied and furled
Tramp seven times round the wall
Then SHOUT with a mighty Vict’ry shout
And blast with the trumpet the “call”
Watch the collapse of the Jericho guard
Your seventh time round the wall!
A Miracle? YES! And ancient with time
The stones will crumble to dust
( And Love’s stilled quiet marching force
Will humble my heart yet again
No defences are left
The walls battered down)
Seven times Love marched around,
And Jericho was taken.
