Dave gives his understanding and wonderful insight of the passage in John’s letter, 1 John chapter 2. “Do not love the world nor things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

Dave refers to Mark’s gospel, chapter 13, which deals with several difficult questions. Destruction of the temple, a Jewish Roman war, the sign of the Messiah’s return, when will this age end, a whole lot of trouble coming. If we are truly following Jesus then that should spell trouble for us.

Dave highlights key passages from week 2 of our church bible reading adventure, John’s gospel, chapters 6 to 10. Dave gives us some travellers tips when reading the gospels, don’t come knowing; be willing to wrestle; push past your “baby Jesus” and to stay a seeker.

Dave asks us to consider what The Body of Christ is? and highlights 3 points. 1) The body is more than a collection of individual parts; 2) A body is painfully connected; 3) A body cannot survive without a head.

Dave discusses how we are the Light of Jesus, his truth. Think how you use that light, for light is used to shine outwards. However do we keep our light to ourselves, where only we can see it, knowits truth, take it's comfort. How do we display our light so it shines from us, being able to be used for others to know the truth of Jesus, to lead people from where they are to his truth gently.
