Jesus named the apostles John and James “Sons of Thunder” due to them being amazing colourful characters, who would not back away from confrontation. But after walking many years with Jesus and becoming one of His closest friends, John was transformed into something more beautiful and elevated, to become the beloved disciple.

Rachel refers to the daily bible readings we as a church have been looking at this week and how God’s faithfulness meets us and impacts our lives ‘In the Valley’. Rachel challenges us to ask ourselves the question that God has placed on her heart, “Who am I”.

Rachel refers to the epistle James, chapters 1 to 3. James wrote this book as persecution was beginning to get worse for the early church. Rachel focuses on life’s challenges and the temptations and trials that bring disappointment.

Rachel refers to 2 Corinthians 10, where Paul writes to the new believers in Corinth, which at the time was being influenced by the world around them. The church had been infiltrated by false teachers and they were being lured away from the simple purity of their love of Christ.

On this first Sunday in Advent, Rachel refers to the “Awesome” verses in Luke 2:7-20, the angelic visitation of the shepherds to the baby Jesus and their testimony after having seen the Saviour. The Story of a promise fulfilled a King and His kingdom, the arrival of a Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Rachel gives her interpretation of 1 Peter chapter 5, verse 7 from the Amplified Version and tells us how she needed to learn as His disciple to cast anxieties to one side and actually follow Him. We ought to be doers of the word, not just listeners. He has paid a price so we can live an abundant life.

Rachel concludes our Lent series looking at Romans 12, verses 17 to 20. Learning to be generous is to move towards radical kindness and generosity. In certain areas of our life this can be challenging but becomes utterly transformative when directed at those who have hurt us.

Rachel begins part 1 of a 3 part series, “The Shepherd's Way” from Psalm 23, entitled “Know Me”. She looks at verses 1 to 3 and the characteristics of “The Shepherd”. You know who you are when you know who God is, WE are His sheep.
