Humanly speaking we are indeed imperfect followers of Jesus, but this isn't something to be despondent about, because it's in the context of the Bible's promise: 'let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author (creator) and perfecter (finisher) of our faith' Heb 12:2.

Nigel explains one of the key challenges for us from Chapter 1: whatever happens, we must keep living our lives based on the reality of the gospel of Christ.

Nigel considers Paul's exhortation that we should live as though Jesus's return is imminent, and encourages us to be alert but also not to get distracted in trying to work out when or exactly how it will happen.

Nigel encourages us to drink, to breathe, to be still and to imitate God

Nigel emphasises the simple truth that the depth of our love for Jesus is far more important that what we understand and believe intellectually (as important as that is). What does Jesus mean to you?

Nigel urges us to allow the fire to keep burning in our hearts by spending regular time with God, not (just) in bible study but through being in His presence and engaging in conversation, just like Jesus did.

Nigel encourages us to watch for signs of a new wave of the Spirit and to open ourselves to be saturated by Him. Let's be ready to catch the wave rather than being caught out unprepared by its arrival.

As part of our first online meeting (held via Zoom) Nigel continues our People of God series, this week looking at Isaiah. The content was (unsurprisingly) significantly influenced by the COVID-19 situation.

Nigel focuses on Peter in the period between Gethsemane and Jesus cooking breakfast for the disciples on the beach , and explains the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation. Does our worldview need to change? Do we need to have a 'reconciling conversation' with Jesus? Or do we need to hear his call again and re-position ourselves to receive from him.
