Re:charge and the Bridge Trust Thames Valley
re:charge is a community cafe for 11 - 18 year olds and young parents with their young children. It aims to have a positive impact on these young people by creating an atmosphere in which relationships with positive role models can flourish.
re:charge also gives other organisations somewhere to meet young people and utilise the space for mentoring, as an easy information access point or for more formal work.
re:charge is a project of The Bridge Trust, an ecumenical trust providing social and community care in the Thames Valley. The Bridge Trust came about because members of River Church recognised that there was a lack of accommodation around Maidenhead for single young homeless men. A property was acquired in 1995 to provide a home for these men. Tthe Borough subsequently also recognised this need and responded with their own initiative, after which the property was sold and profits have been sown into other community projects such as re:charge.
