75 Harvest Road

It’s not much to look at on arrival.

Walls bland white. Roof brick red.

Hardly anything extraordinary

Other than how I first felt: Alien.

Alone. Nervous. Seeds of loneliness. Fears of dislike

Are gradually dispelled as I enter

Friendly faces smile.

Accepting eyes shine.

Pleasant people politely chatter.

Serene souls sing harmoniously in unison.

I feel discomfort no more.

Instead I’m part of the group.

In one body.

Content. Peaceful. Joyful.

Love fills every airspace,

And approval every corner

You cannot help but be yourself

And feel accepted just as you are.

There’s freedom from the judge’s hammer,

Freedom from rejection, despair,

Freedom from all the shackles of life,

Heartbroken hearts are healing.

Surely God is dwelling here

Harvest Road Number Seventy Five

For where such love and peace dwell

God’s spirit is active, alive.

As I leave I notice

The walls have changed colour.

They now radiate a golden rich yellow glow,

Which touches the other houses all around

Harvest Road

Harvesting Souls.
