Redding Synopsis

Jesus said “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” (John 15: 7-8, NIV) When I arrived in Redding following a traumatic first day one of the words spoken to me during our soaking prayer time was that this week was a chance for me to rest in God’s Spirit.

This simple word stuck with me throughout the week in the midst of many prophecies, encounters and healings that were taking place (both in me and the group). It has left me with a hunger to pursue and practice a lifestyle of the presence of God.

“I don’t just want goose bumps” said Bill Johnson in the Sunday evening meeting. Neither do I, but during the week God seemed to be saying to me quite strongly that if I wanted to learn how to give I needed to learn how to receive. After all you can’t give what you don’t have.

During the healing rooms on Saturday morning, God shone his light on some quite deep emotional wounds which showed I still struggled not to know, but to believe that I am valuable, that I am a child of God. Issues that I would love to have worked out years ago and that I feel I still need to work out fully. To minister out of a place of peace and not anxiety.

And so though I would loved to have been out and about, praying for the sick, seeing miracles, having words of knowledge etc, I felt God calling me to a place of intimacy with Him, to a new level. Abide in me Jesus promises, and you will bear fruit. Learn to recognize His voice and to see what the father is doing.

I have returned to England carrying the words spoken over my life, and expectant. Excited by what God wants to do in me and the Church. Sobered by the knowledge it comes at a cost. Desiring more passion in myself for God, more presence in our church, and much more moving in the supernatural, seeing people healed and set free and encountering a God who is love and who delights so much in His children. For me my focus is intimacy, being filled with the spirit and learning to carry the words spoken over my life. The attitude to prayer and soaking in God’s presence is something I look forward to seeing in the Journey. Allowing the Spirit to fill us and to overflow into Royal Holloway and our local community. That signs and wonders become not just something we hear about or talk about, but are part of our regular life. And that we become a church known as Jesus’ disciples because we love each other.

I just read this again today from a sheet we got from the intercessors prayer room. “For this is your day… open wide your arms, your hearts and receive the buckets from heaven that are full and pouring out on you. The buckets of Joy, buckets of blessing, honour and favour. Buckets of abundance and my healing power…….Receive and receive and then in return you can give out what you have received. You will see the mighty outpouring of my spirit on you. For I have called all of you to do a mighty work for Me. So get ready – Get filled up and see the Mighty outpouring of my Spirit on you and your city.”
