Journey Students
Whether you're a first year student coming to Royal Holloway for the first time, or a second or third year or postgrad student looking for a church, you're very welcome at The Journey!
The Journey was planted seven years ago by a team of four people passionate to see God move amongst students at Royal Holloway. Seven years on, alongside our student community of both undergraduates and postgraduates, we now also have a small but growing group of graduates and families and are committed to reaching out into Englefield Green village. A passion for reaching Royal Holloway and seeing students’ lives transformed by God has always been at the heart of our vision as a church and we aim to serve you as students and support you as you reach Royal Holloway with God’s love and enjoy the uni experience!
How to find us:
11am every Sunday at The Village Centre We meet at 11am every Sunday at The Village Centre, Victoria Street, Englefield Green. This only 5 mins from campus and really easy to get to. Go out of the main gate and turn right. Cross the road at the crossing and go left up Harvest Road. After a few minutes you should find Victoria Street on your left, and the Village Centre is a few buildings along on the other side of the road. If you don’t want to risk getting lost, we meet people at Founders clock tower at 10.45am every Sunday to walk there together (during September and October).
Community Lunches:
1pm, first Sunday of every month at The Village Centre We also have community meals after our gatherings on the first Sunday of every month, where the whole church as well as any student or community visitors have dinner together – for the first term, these are on Sunday 2nd October, 13th November, and 4th December, so you’re very welcome to join us! This is also at The Village Centre.
River Church:
We are part of a larger church called River Church which has 3 other congregations in Maidenhead, Marlow and Slough, and is part of Pioneer network. As part of River Church, we have whole church ‘River Together’ meetings several times a year, monthly ‘Deeper’ worship meetings and the opportunity to do a year out discipleship course ‘The Big Year’.
Student cell:
We have a Journey student cell community that meets on campus and in students’ houses once a week during term time. Cells are a brilliant place to deepen friendships, support each other, learn more about relationship with God and what it means to follow Jesus at university. Cells are a mixture of worship, teaching, outreach and community, and our student cell has a monthly social. For details of when the cell will meet, just send us an email.
Discipleship group:
We think that it's really important to lead a lifestyle of discipleship, and as part of this we run a student discipleship group. We eat a meal together, hear teaching from Journey leaders and guest speakers, have chance for interaction, discussion and questions, and an opportunity to encounter God and pray for each other. We meet three times a term and have a day away together once a year. All students are welcome to be part of the group!
