Nepal Update May 11
Hi again,
Here are some of the latest updates from Nepal.
FIRST - the "Big Year" team are due to fly out to Nepal this week for a 2 week trip. They will fly to Kathmandu, but will be spending much of their time in Jiri, up in the Himalayas. Do pray for them - for a safe journey, for health and safety during their trip - and most of all that God will anoint their trip and all that they do while they are in Nepal. Pray that the people they visit will be touched by God and that lives will be changed as a result of their trip.
NEWS FROM KATHMANDU
- The Aanandit church is growing, and building work has started to enlarge the main hall and build more rooms for the "sunday school"
- Shusma has now been asked to teach the leaders of the Nepali Women's Fellowship. She is the youngest among them - but she is leading!
- Pastor Indra is on a committee of Christians who are asking for rights for Christians in the new constitution. This includes asking for separate funeral/burial places for Christians. The churches in Kathmandu have been praying together for 40 days for this.
- In April the church held a special seminar for single mothers facing difficulties and domestic violence. This included bringing in a lawyer so that the women could find out more about their rights under Nepalese law. Another seminar for widows and elderly ladies also took place.
- There was an Easter rally for all the churches in Kathmandu - about 12,000 gathered for this!!
- The Aaanandit church held training in one of their new church plants for 22 people. They will be holding another one on May 22 in another district.
- Milan and Shusma are still looking for a new premises for their guest house, and a new business partner to run it. Please pray for this.
NEWS FROM JIRI
- Before easter, the HUCFN trained 44 people from different churches in the area in order that they could effectively share the good news of Easter in their own communities. They provided them with DVDs to use as a new way of communicating with their neighbours.
- Samuel Jirel has completed another training programme at the Thulopatel church with a group of 9 students (see his attached sheet) to equip them for mission in the Himalayas.
- May 18th -19th will be a time of re-union for all the students who have graduated from the RLBTC in the past. This is planned to take place when our own Big Year team are there - should be a wonderful time of celebration!
- On May 19th, the current batch of students will have their own graduation ceremony. Once again, our team will be there to witness it!
WOW! SO MUCH ENCOURAGING STUFF!! I will leave you with a few words from Milan...
"Amishu is in the new school now. Recently we managed to watch the British Royal wedding at our TV, and I said to Amishu (she is 7yrs. now), ‘she may marry one day with Prince’. She immediately asked me “Which prince is spare now” ?
Recently during the prayer and fasting I sensed that God is telling us ‘we should ask His Presence in our lives, in our fellowships, in our relationships, in our works and in the area of whatever we are doing according to his will, so that His presence will release the power to bless, to heal and to be holy more that we can imagine which leads us to experience the miracles.’ We pray that you can feel His presence continually in the days a head.
