Nepal Update Feb 11
Hullo again!
I have had lots of news and reports sent to me from Nepal over the last couple of weeks, so I am a bit late in sending it on to you -please forgive me. However this should provide you with some bed-time reading for a while! And, of course, please continue to pray for our friends in all that they are doing. There are 2 attachments. One is a report from pastor Gyan's church in Thulopatel, looking back at their events of 2010. The other is an account of all that happened during the outreach week in January, when the students from the bible training centre went out to put their training into practice! It is quite amazing to read all that they managed to achieve in a week. This is missionary work at its best! As we invest in the lives of these young people, they can reach the people and places in their own country that we, as westerners, could not possibly do. It is exciting to see all that god is doing in Nepal. Lastly, I would also like to pass on Shusma's account of her last trip to the far west of Nepal(see below). This actually took place before Christmas, but I hope you will still enjoy reading it! Thanks, Jill
Dear all, Love and greetings to you from Nepal. What a privilege for us to partner in the kingdom of God. How wonderful for me to share what God did when we worked together!! All the glory and honor be to the one who is so faithful! God has honour me giving me the chance to be the Secretary for the National women committee from last year. This time I had chance to go to Far west Nepal again as conference speaker. Sometime it is funny when the participants ask with me 'where is the speaker' from Kathmandu ? It may be bec. they expect some older people. Bless them. We went to Nepalgunj with lots of prayer and excitement in our hearts. I knew in the Spirit God will teach me something in this trip. Before we left I had a dream and got a verse from Plasm133 which led me to verse in Deut.31:8 which was very strong conviction for me that He was going before us and was going to be with us. Our travel this time was easy and quick. I went with Prasulla Basnet, she is the daughter of Pastor Indra and Sushila Basent. She was working for few years at Leprosy Hospital as Saff Nurse so she was going to speak about health issues. From my last trip I felt it is needed there. This was a three days conference and very practical for all women. They had candle making sessions( very useful because we have 12 hours power cut everyday and it is going to increase up to fifteen hours a day in coming month), health teachings and teachings on Spiritual growth. There were sixty women leaders from six districts some of which are border to India. We had such a privilege to know them and to have fellowship with them. There were some teenage girls and mostly mothers of 30s and 40s. Some women were widows who had lot of pain because of their families. Many mothers who were very worried about their teenagers who were away from their walk with Jesus. Most of them had some kind of health problem. One young lady was crying so much because of the torture her husband gave for not being able to bear any child. She was so fearful about the situation after the conference as she came there without his permission. One lady was giving her testimony who lost her two children and husband after coming to Jesus so her parent in law threw her out of the house. They said this all happened because of the religion she brought in their house. Now she is living on her own. She nearly took her life once but God stopped her saying you have no rights to end this life as it belongs to ME. She would appreciate our prayers for her future. I saw a strong and leading spirit in her. She can be a woman with testimony for bringing light in this dark Asian culture. In our society anything happens people blame the woman and they reject her from family and from society. She is an example that God does not reject but has a wonderful plans. People came from different backgrounds and with all sorts of problems. I will try to tell you in brief what God did in their lives during teaching and prayer ministry. I taught from life of Daniel. How important it is to see God with right perspective then we can choose what pleases Him even in difficult circumstances. Many people related with this message as we all suffer in our lives and challenges come in every journey of life. But our small choices can make a big difference. My other classes were about the Holy Spirit. Just like last time in Lamkhi we had time of prayer ministry on 2nd of Dec. at the evening and God had his hand on us. People were touched by His presence, got healed from different diseases, prophecies has been released, word of knowledge has been released which brought the inner healing, bondages has been cut, some were shaking, crying out to God for more with tears rolling down their eyes, people were speaking in tongue ( I am not sure it was their first time),victory over bad dreams and clarity for confused mind. There was a heavy presence of God in that tent and Holy Spirit led us to pray for all those parts of Nepal with prophetic words. When they shared how they experienced God at sharing time next day we all were praising God.I am very excited to see how God uses those women in their local area in days to come. I believe revival has started within them and God will let it flow through them. Just in two days we saw the changes and the blessing of God in those women which I can not express. It seems like God is asking me to teach wherever He takes us about His longing for people. I enjoy letting people know that Holy Spirit is not a power but a person who looks like Jesus and wants to have personal relationship with each of His children through His Spirit (John 14). Thank you for your prayers for our trip to Nepalgunj. Every moment we sensed the power of prayer without which nothing could have happened. Our God is so amazing!!! Nothing can really explain about His way of work and even our closeness with Him. Praise God for every moment of our lives to experience him and know Him better everyday. Our journey with him is very humbling and exciting. We love you all in Jesus. Thank you once again for your love and prayers. Much has happened but I only wrote what I thought would encourage you to pray for us more. I am sending this after busy season so that you will have more time to read and once again many thanks for taking your time to pray and time to read this, Thank you sooo much!! With much love and thanks, Shusma... Ps. We still receive many phone calls from the ladies from that area.
