Joan of Arc a musical © is a brand new theatrical production to be shown for the first time in High Wycombe Buckinghamshire in November 2010, prior to a planned West End opening.
Written and produced by local author Robert Bromley Davis and with music composed by Director Mark Britton the production will be staged in All Saints Church in the town centre
With authentic medieval costumes and armour, and a cast of over 50 people the production is accompanied by a full choir of 30 people.
Directed by Mark Britton and staged on a not for profit basis, the production offers a spectacular opportunity for local people to be involved in a professionally produced musical. Mark has produced and directed musicals such as Jesus Christ Superstar,
The Hired Man, Godspell, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and many others.
At 16 years old Joan of Arc led the army of France to victory over the English. At 19 she was captured and burned at the stake. The victories of Joan of Arc and her inspiration forged France into a nation for the first time.
Mark Britton said ‘We wanted to use All Saints Church because it is a medieval
building which was in use at the time of Joan of Arc. Also, the Church in those days was an important sponsor of the performing arts and it seemed right to remake that connection, particularly as the heroine of the story was made a saint.’
