How did you learn about Moscow Evangelical Christian Seminary?

From an announcement in the church. I learned more about it from my pastor and from a student of this Seminary.

Why did you choose this Seminary?

I’ve heard many positive testimonies about this Seminary. It has a good reputation and strong teaching. I know some graduates, who are very good ministers now.

What ministry are you going to have during your studies at the Seminary?

Worship and theatrical ministry

How did you become a Christian ?

I was born in a family of orthodox Christians. My mother often visited services and took me with her. At the age of five I was baptized according to the orthodox rite in the Ukraine. At that time the atheistic propaganda was widely spread everywhere and there was the cult of Lenin in the country and the faith in the living God was trampled. I remember that when I went to school, it was forbidden to say that I was baptized. And I had to wear a Young Pioneer’s red tie instead of the cross.

I grew up without my father. My mother brought up my brother and me by herself. It was very difficult. But the most terrible thing was that we believed in God, but we didn’t know Him at all; we didn’t know about our salvation through Him. Once in 1984 a group of missionaries from America came in our city. They told people about God and gave out Christian books and the Bible. My mother was also presented with our first Bible. When she got it, she wept. Ten years have passed…

An American (Bruce), sorting out his photos, found the photo taken in 1984 in Russia in Tver’, where a crying woman took a Bible in her arms. He started praying and asked God to meet this woman and her family. God answered his prayer and in 1985 Bruce came in Tver’. He had only this photo. He knew neither her name nor her address. Having enlarged the photo, Bruce and  his interpreter walked along the streets of the city and  asked people about the woman on the photo, but everybody shook only their heads. Then he started asking God for help and God answered.

A day before his departure a man recognized my mother on the photo, gave Bruce the address of her workplace and there he was given her telephone number. It was a very touching meeting – a lot of tears, presents and there was also this photo among them. But an unusual surprise for him was that my mother and I visited the meetings of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The next day Bruce flew to America. His wife, all his church and he himself have been praying about our salvation for three years. Many events happened in our life during these years. We left the Jehovah’s Witnesses, sought God and sought the truth. Our friend invited us to the Evangelical Christian Church. We agreed and went to the service next Sunday; that was in 1999. In 2000 Bruce came and learned about our salvation. In 2002 we met his wife Eve. Today my mother and I are the members of the Evangelical Christian Church “Gloria”.

The only member of our family, who isn’t saved yet, is my younger brother. But we pray about him and his salvation. And this testimony gives us strength and hope. I believe that God hears us because we ask Him about it. And we are His children.

What are your plans after graduation from the Seminary?

Worship and Christian counseling
